birds received from California, New Hampshire, Florida

So… I think it’s been exactly one week since I first made the public announcement for Release the Birds. Of 50 made, I only have… two or four left that have no destinations to visit. If anyone is in the least bit interested in altering and mailing a bird, read my earlier blog entry and email me! The birds that have flown are now landing in 11 US states, 1 US territory, and 6 other countries.
In a fit of insomnia one late night this week, I started mapping out locations by political boundaries because, like most Americans, I’m super crappy about geography. (Even when it comes to own country of origin.) I’m thinking about compiling all the maps together into one huge drawing, I’m trying to decide if and how I should refer to other artist’s birds when I make that drawing.
And I’ve already received some bird photos back!
Fleur wrote: “My bird is a ‘flower garden bird’ and it’s at its happiest when it’s nibbling on insects among the garden flowers.”
Like Television Snow wrote: “The bird escaped and was sited in the following areas.”

The maps are a great idea!
I’ll look forward to seeing where the other birds are coming from ……
I actually have to revise the California map… Someone volunteered from southern California. I’m one state short of finishing the US. I’ve started the European countries, but those seem harder to draw… the boundaries aren’t as arbitrary and straight as most of the US states. Plus, there’s all the water….
Interesting idea
