figure drawing Tuesday – short poses

The pose lengths for these drawings range from 2 minutes to 10 minutes.
I went to a different group for the first time last night. I’m looking for a less expensive place to draw and one that has better lighting. This place seems to work for me. Instead of paying $15 every time I go, it’s only $5. The lighting is better. It’s a *lot* less crowded, so there’s room to spread. It’s at night, so bringing a gallon of coffee isn’t an absolute necessity for me to act like a normal person. Drawing in the evenings is so much more appealing than waking up with the farmers on Saturday mornings. It’s my one day off work every week; It would be nice to sleep in, you know? And… this group meets almost every night of the week, so I have options!
It’s a student group, so it’s not open to the public. I’ve asked someone in school administration if I can go, just to make sure they know I’m there. Having people from the community attend groups like this is somewhat of a liability for them, and is certainly frowned upon because of the undraped model. But… since I work on campus, I’m privy to some perks. I’m on course to take advantage of that. Otherwise, what’s the point?
The only drawback I see is that the free nights I have to go are the short and medium pose nights, which are the same pose lengths as the ones at the community art center I’ve been going to. The long pose nights, ones where the model maintains the same pose for three hours with breaks every fifteen or twenty minutes, are the nights I work. I love long poses but never seem get a chance to do them. Oh, woe is me.
